DO ONE THING AT A TIME AND GIVE IT YOUR FULL ATTENTION

  • Don’t take on too much – learn to say ‘no’. Make lists of what needs to be done.
  • If  you can delegate some tasks, do so.  If something can wait, let it  wait.
  • Prioritise. Tackle the jobs that really matter first, one at a time.
  • Try to achieve a balance between:
    • the things you do for work
    • the things you do for your family or others
    • the things you do for yourself
  • Try to include some of the things you would like to do as well as the things you have to  do.

BE PREPARED for things before they happen, whenever possible

MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF. Do what you can for others but remember that you are important too

KEEP INTERESTED and believe in the value of what you are doing

TRY NOT TO DISLIKE OR CRITICISE ANYONE

‘He who cannot forgive destroys the bridge across which he himself must pass’.

DO NOT DISLIKE OR CRITICISE YOURSELF

Accept yourself as you are: a human being with human weaknesses and  strengths.

Don’t expect too much from yourself. Set realistic, achievable goals. But don’t expect too little of  yourself either. Most people are capable of achieving more than they imagine but set artificial limits for themselves.

DON’T CATASTROPHISE

Watch the language you use in your mind, and try to eliminate negative expressions from your mental vocabulary (such as “I give in!” or “This is hopeless!”)

LOOK FOR THE BEST IN LIFE AND PEOPLE

However bad the situation, there is always a positive and a negative way of looking at it, and whatever the circumstances, there is usually something positive we can do to improve them

Be the type of person who sees the sunset beyond the barbed wire fence, the stars beyond the prison bars and, wherever possible, try to see the funny side.

LIFE IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE LIVED NOT A PROBLEM TO BE FACED
